Livewell rounds up a successful Nutrition & Hydration Week 2015

As Nutrition and Hydration Week 2015 comes to a close we have read with interest about the wide range of activities that have been taking place in hospital and healthcare setting the length and breadth of the UK.  And it doesn’t end there, Nutrition and Hydration week has also been celebrated around the rest of the World.

This week of action has again helped to raise awareness and improve understanding of the vital importance of good nutrition and hydration.

The World Tea Party had participants from organisations in  Hungary, USA, Canada and India.  Closer to home the Leeds Teaching Hospitals held food tasting sessions and fancy dress sessions at the children’s hospital, and promoted the importance of  good hydration and nutrition via posters, quizzes, screensavers and via articles in internal newsletters and the local media

The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust also ran poster presentations in their restaurants  and emphasised the importance of afternoon teas held monthly across all hospital sites as a result of last year’s Nutrition week. Their catering department  also introduced a supper snack on the wards for the week.  They also arranged for a get together of ward staff and catering staff so the care staff could gain a greater understanding of how  patient’s meals are prepared and distributed to emphasise the importance of nutrition and hydration.

At Livewell Vending we know about  the importance of hydration in order to maintain good health and on how access to a wider choice of vended drinks and snacks with varying nutritional content allows consumers to make their own decisions on what meets their personal dietary requirements.

We aim to offer a broad enough range to give consumers the choice to make their own informed decisions, enabling them to eat a balanced diet based on their individual needs at that time and place.

Congratulations to all those involved with such a successful Nutrition and Hydration week.  We look forward to next year!
